STAGE 1: MAKING THIS SALT-VINEGAR SOAK.

 • Fill a plastic basin with enough lukewarm Water to cover your hands and/or feet completely. Roughly 3-4 fistfuls of the Salt, and 1 regular mug of Vinegar for every 2 mugs of Water is a good guiding formula.
 • If you feel you are in danger of spreading the pungent aroma of Vinegar around your room, do not worry. It seems like that in the beginning, but it is not too bad.
 • Soak your hands and/or feet for a good 45 minutes. Avoid the tendency to pick at hardened skin. Instead, use a pumice stone, a Natural Fibre loofah, nail brush. Avoid any soap or aromatic body wash at this stage.

 • A word of caution regarding open cuts and sores – it is probably a good idea to avoid Salt and Vinegar Soaks till these heal; otherwise they might burn and sting.

STAGE 2: FURTHER AESTHETIC EXFOLIATION.

This part is easier on the eyes and nose, when you change the Water in your basin, and add your Essential Oil or Bath Oil of choice.

 • If you need to conduct further exfoliation, use a foot and/or hand Scrub, as these are specially concocted for the purpose. Scrubs with kernels of Apricot, Almond, Walnut or Pine Nut work best, as these make excellent natural polishers without being too harsh on your skin.

 • Push back cuticles with the right tool (you can always purchase a good quality one), and cut and clean your nails at this stage. All the cleaning and hydrating has softened them, making it easier for you to cut and shape the nails and nail bed.
 • If you like, you can add more warm Water, and do absolutely nothing for some time. Let your hands and feet soak up the aromatic goodness of the Essential Oils!

STAGE 3: MOISTURISATION AND MASSAGE

 • Finally, wipe your hands and feet with a soft towel, and use a richly hydrating Cream. Any good one designed for hand and foot care, would have Natural Butters– Almond, Cocoa, Shea, Mango, and Kokum (Mangosteen); or Oils like Coconut, Sweet Almond, Olive, and Calendula.

Ancient Indian sciences and scripts called quintessence akash, or the all-pervasive spiritual energy beyond the realm of matter, in the astral world, from which the 'spark' of Creation stems. The term was adopted by Western traditions later, within which akash is also referred to as ether. Etheric or akashic records are also stored in human DNA. This 'genetic memory' stores every aspect of our experience, though we might not know this.

The comfort and therapy, the sense of ‘home’ we feel when we come in contact with certain essential oils, is our mind, body, and soul responding to that certain something in the essential oil, that ignites a sense of wellness, familiarity and of feeling whole.

APPLICATIONS OF ESSENTIAL OILS People with hypersensitive skin may not take to skin contact with essential oils and inhalation might work better for them. For others, essential oils serve a domestic/décor purpose. Never overestimate the ability of your skin (or nose) to handle concentrated essential oil.

Therefore, it is recommended to always mix essential oils with a vegetable-origin base/carrier oil to dilute the intensity. Coconut, sesame, or olive oils work well, though almond, apricot kernel, sunflower, or jojoba oils are also suitable alternatives. For every two tablespoons or so of oil, 2 drops of essential oil may be used.

This ratio should be adjusted accordingly for elderly persons, young children, and those with extremely sensitive skin.

Before embarking on an aromatherapy course of any nature, it is best to consult your doctor or a seasoned aromatherapy expert to ensure you’re not likely to suffer any unforeseen reactions based on your medical history. Such a consultation is especially recommended for pregnant women or those suffering from heart or respiratory issues.

How To Get A Smooth, Even-Textured Body With Jwalini

How often you should shampoo your hair changes from one individual to the other. If the scalp is more oily, it is okay to shampoo daily. Cleansing the scalp is more important than the hair as it is the place where sebum is concentrated. For most people, shampooing the hair twice a week is sufficient.

Which oil is best for specific hair types?

Massaging the scalp and hair with warm oil -- preferably infused with hair-friendly herbs -- is the best way to nourish the scalp and hair topically. Not only does the massage work wonders for the hair, but it also relaxes the mind and nervous system.

The first step to selecting the best oil is to understand what kind of hair you have, according to your ayurvedic constitution.

If your hair is thin, frizzy and prone to split-ends, you have Vata predominant hair.
If you have fine hair which is prone to premature thinning or greying, you have Pitta-predominant hair.
If your hair is thicky and oily, it is  Kapha predominant.

Yes, rainwater can be harmful to the hair because it contains a lot of pollutants. If rainwater touches your hair, it damages your hair shaft and weakens your hair in the process. 
If you get wet in the rain wash your hair as soon as possible with a mild shampoo, followed by a conditioner. Do not leave the rainwater in the hair for long time as it is high in chemical contents and can damage the hair.
